Trauma-informed Therapy for Couples in Langley British Columbia
You Don’t Have to Feel This Disconnected Anymore
If you’re here, there’s a good chance your relationship feels strained, distant, or even painful. Maybe conversations turn into arguments, or silence feels safer than speaking up. Trauma, whether personal, shared, or from past experiences, can create walls between people who love each other. And over time, those walls can begin to feel impossible to break down.
I see how deeply trauma and emotional disconnection can affect a couple’s ability to feel safe, heard, and close. You might feel stuck in repeating patterns or unsure how to reach each other again. It’s not that you don’t love one another. It’s that something painful is getting in the way.
If you’re looking for trauma-informed therapy for couples in Langley British Columbia, you’re in the right place. I help couples heal together.
Hi, I’m Mahsa Hamedanizadeh, RCC
I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor and the founder of Roma Villa Counselling. I specialize in working with couples who are struggling with emotional disconnection, conflict, or the lasting effects of trauma. I offer therapy in both English and Farsi, and I’m passionate about helping people rebuild emotional safety and intimacy because we all deserve to feel understood and connected in our closest relationships.
In our work together, I use evidence-based approaches such as:
EMDR therapy for trauma healing
The Gottman Method for improving communication and trust
Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Each session is tailored to your unique relationship and your individual needs. Whether you’re coping with past betrayals, emotional shutdowns, or long-standing communication issues, I’ll help guide you toward healing, with compassion and care.
When Trauma Affects the Relationship
Many of the couples I work with come to therapy feeling frustrated, hopeless, or emotionally disconnected. Some are still carrying unprocessed trauma from childhood, past relationships, or major life events. Others feel overwhelmed by the emotional distance that’s grown between them.
You may be wondering:
“Why do we keep having the same arguments over and over?”
“Why can’t I open up to my partner the way I used to?”
“Are we ever going to feel close again?”
These are real, painful questions, and you don’t have to answer them alone.
Using trauma-informed couples therapy in Langley, I help partners identify what’s keeping them stuck and work through it together. EMDR therapy, in particular, helps individuals resolve past emotional wounds so they can be more present and connected in their relationships.
What Our Therapy Sessions Will Look Like
Our work will begin with understanding where you’re both coming from, what’s felt painful, where you’ve felt unseen, and what you hope will change. From there, we’ll develop a plan that fits your relationship goals and emotional needs.
In sessions, we may focus on:
Identifying unresolved trauma or painful memories
Building emotional safety between partners
Improving communication tools and patterns
Learning to express needs and boundaries clearly
Using EMDR therapy to help each partner process trauma that may be affecting the relationship
Healing isn’t linear, but it is possible. As we move through the process, many couples begin to feel more emotionally attuned, more resilient, and more hopeful.
What Healing Can Look Like
When trauma no longer controls your connection, your relationship can start to feel safe again. Many of the couples I work with experience:
A stronger sense of emotional intimacy
Greater empathy and understanding for one another
More effective, respectful communication
Relief from past triggers and emotional reactivity
Renewed trust and closeness
Therapy can be the first step toward feeling like a team again, and that’s a powerful shift. I’m here to support you through it, every step of the way.
Whether you’re in Langley or nearby, I offer online trauma-informed therapy for couples across British Columbia.
