EMDR Therapy for Couples in Langley British Columbia
Heal Together, One Step at a Time
I know how heartbreaking it can feel when the person you love most seems emotionally out of reach. Maybe you're stuck in painful patterns of miscommunication or avoiding important conversations entirely. Perhaps past trauma, whether it's yours, your partner’s, or both, is silently shaping your relationship in ways that feel confusing, overwhelming, or even hopeless.
If you’re longing to reconnect but don’t know where to begin, you’re not alone. I offer a trauma-informed, compassionate approach to couples counselling that combines EMDR therapy with evidence-based relationship techniques. Together, we can help you and your partner heal, rebuild trust, and feel close again.
I’m based in Langley, British Columbia, and I work with couples across the province through secure online sessions in both English and Farsi.
Hi, I’m Mahsa Hamedanizadeh, RCC. I’m Here to Help
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I help couples navigate the effects of trauma, emotional disconnection, and communication breakdowns. My approach is collaborative, warm, and grounded in research-backed methods. Every couple I work with is unique, so I tailor our sessions to fit your specific challenges and goals.
My training includes:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy
Gottman Method Couples Therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Trauma-Focused CBT
Whether you're dealing with past betrayals, ongoing arguments, or a sense of drifting apart, my role is to guide you through healing both individually and as a couple with care and intention.
When Trauma Disrupts the Relationship
Many couples I work with come to me feeling frustrated, isolated, or stuck in a cycle of conflict and avoidance. Unresolved trauma, whether from childhood, past relationships, or difficult life experiences, can quietly shape how we connect with our partners.
Here in Langley, I support couples facing:
Emotional disconnection that seems impossible to fix
Repeated arguments or communication that ends in silence or shouting
A lingering sense of hurt from past betrayals or losses
Feeling like you’re walking on eggshells around each other
The weight of trauma spilling over into your relationship
You might love each other deeply but still feel alone in your relationship. Therapy can offer a space to unpack those experiences safely and start moving toward connection again.
What to Expect in Couples EMDR Therapy
In our work together, we’ll create a space that feels emotionally safe for both partners. My goal is to help each of you feel seen, heard, and supported. EMDR therapy allows us to gently process past events that are impacting your current relationship, while other approaches like the Gottman Method and EFT help build new patterns of connection and trust.
Here’s what you can expect:
EMDR therapy to help resolve distressing memories or triggers that affect your relationship
Communication tools for navigating hard conversations with honesty and care
Emotionally focused support to rebuild trust and increase closeness
A collaborative, respectful process where both voices matter
Sessions are 75 or 100 minutes long, offering time and space to work deeply without feeling rushed.
How Therapy Can Help You Reconnect
Couples therapy that includes EMDR can lead to powerful changes both in how you feel and how you relate to one another.
Clients often tell me they leave sessions with:
A deeper understanding of each other’s emotions and experiences
Tools to express needs without fear or blame
Relief from long-held emotional pain
A renewed sense of intimacy, safety, and teamwork in the relationship
Healing from trauma doesn’t mean forgetting the past. It means learning how to move forward with more compassion, connection, and confidence.
And if you're in Langley or anywhere in British Columbia, you're just a few clicks away from starting that process.
